Reflections In A Bus Windshield

Human figures sit in angst filled silence

Gloomy stares upon the endless highway

Future up ahead now drifts into past

Verdant trees outside

Fleeting whims upon the street

Lines in pavement, lines in faces

Pushing towards destination and demise

Seconds tick away

Flickers upon the soul

Hardened like the concrete below

Fertile soil beneath the pavement

With words I spread my wings

In this rolling cocoon

Alex, I like the way this reads in both directions -after reading through it, I re-read from top to bottom and liked it that way too.
roll on- write on...

Hey, you're a poet!

But I prefer the poetry with their hands. Or maybe this post is not poetry, but one comment, when you're in some tourbus. normally when we're inside a bus on the move, like to see the landscape passing outside, asking where we came from and where we go.

I feel in your words that you had something, don´t gave great importance, but now feels the need to have again.

Female intuition.

I can put myself in your state of mind and sense there is a somber tone to this blog. In dead silence you write all the thoughts that come to you for everything you see, feel and think.
It reveals a lot.

It we are to find balance, there must be both, light and dark. Why does the dark scare me, why does the light blind?

A cocoon is a place of respite, transformation, a waiting place between one 'stage' and another ('destination and demise'). Is that what the bus is for you? Can you, do you, shed one form and don another there?

Once read somewhere, there is a direct correlation between everything and everyone. The connection may be so intense “that the flapping of a butterfly’s wings can trigger a hurricane on the other side of the planet”.

If this is true Alex, then your words, music, and soul resonate far beyond your “rolling cocoon”.

With this in philosophy mind, when you feel the flutter of wings upon your cheek - just smile to yourself and know someone believes in you.

I'm overwhelmed by the responses to this. After posting, I immediately thought of removing it. But then the crappy WiFi connection went out, and I decided to leave it. Thanks for making me glad I did.

Hearing Erica Jong read her poems out loud in person, it was hard not to be inspired. Then there were the novels I've read recently: Erica's 'Fanny,' Thomas Wolfe's 'Look Homeward Angel' and John Updike's 'Couples." All of them have little poems within the stories (one of the things that separates these 'real' writers from those whose books are excuses for Hollywood screenplays). I've never thought of myself as a 'poet,' but I am starting to appreciate poetry and allowing words to be channeled through me in different forms, however they're labeled.

You're comments have inspired some further 'reflections' which are going up now as a new post.

Alex, I love your poem. I am a poet myself, I write poems on a daily basis too. I have about 94 poems right now, I love to write. I love each and every one of my poems and I want the world to hear them. Do not be afraid to show your poems, everybody has a voice to be heard. You seem quite troubled trying to seek truth to these fast-moving times. I too seek meaning to the world, also. By the way Alex, in Testament have you ever written lyrics or had a say in lyrics. If so, what songs? If not, Tesatament should let you write more. You have the poet's soul, believe me. Keep it up man, good stuff!

-Nick

P.S.: If you want to read some of my poems sometime, you can tell me.
