Update

People Of Earth (thanks Conan for that line):  here is a quick update on what is going on with me.

I am thrilled to announce that the Alex Skolnick Trio will be supporting Rodrigo and Gabriella on their upcoming US run. It looks like I will be sitting in nightly with Rod and Gab, as well.

This means, unfortunately, that I won't be out with Testament on the Megadeth run of dates in March  (dates that were added only recently, in light of the American Carnage tour being postponed). While I feel bad for anyone disappointed I won't be there, I respect the decision to book these dates and ask for the fans' understanding with this as the trio has had March on hold for a long time. Glen Drover, who is filling in for me, will do an awesome job and I encourage everyone to go see the show regardless.

Although no rescheduled Carnage dates have been booked yet, I'm awaiting word (as we all are), pulling for Slayer's Tom Araya to get well soon and looking forward to resuming that tour as planned.

Also, for those who have been asking: I will not be taking part in the  TSO Beethoven's Last Night Tour at this time. I appreciate the support and encourage everyone to see it, as it promises to be an excellent show with or without yours truly.

I understand it can get confusing keeping track of me and my multiple projects/genres (believe me, I have my own challenges with this, lol). But I'm happy to announce that we are redesigning alexskolnick.com in a way that's going to make things much easier to keep track of. The new design will happen soon.

If you are able to come check out the RyG dates with me and Matt Nathan please come by and say hello after the show.  See you soon, thanks for the support and a great 2010 to everyone.   Cheers!

       Alex

Hello Alex,

A busy man you are!
Enjoy the supporting act for R&G. Glen Drover is an excellent choice for he is a great live player.
Have fun and make shure you don't exaust yourself!
Kind regards

Hello Alex,

Great to know that Glen Drover is filling in for you. He is an excellent player and delivers a lot of emotion when playing live.
As for you, I regret you won't be playing on TSO March tour for I was planning to see it.
As for R&G I'm glad your Trio is supporting them and getting a well deserved exposure. I'm not very fond of R&G but I appreciate true Flamenco artists like Paco de Lucia and Vicente Amigo.
Enjoy yourself and take it easy. You are a very busy man indeed.

Regards,

Claudia

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the TSO shows myself. Should be interesting to see some of the WEST orchestra members (though I'll really miss seeing you there!).

Best wishes on the RyG tour. Unfortunately the tour won't be hitting Philly this time around (saw them in November at the Electric Factory and they were amazing!) I've wondered why, though, when you opened for them on the previous tour you didn't sit in with them in Philly - I know you did at some of the other shows.

I hope to see you on tour sometime soon with one of your bands & hope to hear a new AST album soon!

Would luv to know if there are going to be any RyG dates in Cleveland OR Chicago. Have not seen a date for either place yet. If not, I may try to see you guys in either Detroit or Pittsburg. :)

And, I applaud your decision - hard to choose when so many want you, huh?

Hey Alex,
You are quite busy. I wish I was able to go to one of the shows...TSO (no show near me), Testament (show is a week I will be working in Bristol, TN) or to see your Trio (too far away for me to travel). Maybe next year I'll be able to catch one. Anyway, have fun with the Trio...and don't work too hard.

Hey Alex,

So happy that you are sooo busy with things aside from TSO. Must make paying the bills alot easier, LOL.
Good Luck with all your projects and I'll see you next year with TSO.

Alex,Alex,Alex, (can you be cloned ?.... Quite a testament to your talent ratio. One that requires rationing of the demand and challenges the fullfilling, but,is nontheless a good thing and reflective of your gift. A positive predicament, that most artists don't face, and, as fans, we understand and support ! Yet, in truth, many will miss you, I will in TSO, but there will be other times/shows/dates in the future. Am happy for you -
May you and all tour members Enjoy -Take Care,
Cheerio..

Hey Alex! Glad to see the trio coming south (the ATL actually can have a good music scene, if the right people show up-like you!). Still waiting to hear if your assistant ever found the gloves I sent. If I can squeeze in the RyG concert and you haven't found them by then, I can hand-deliver a pair to you. Good luck!

It's my dream to see AST live some day.
I love RyG as well, so the following tour sounds just great.
I wish I could fly to US!!
Please keep fit and enjoy the tour.

Thanks so much for the support and understanding. It's been great supporting the 'big' projects, but for some time now, AST has taken a bit of a back seat. Now we finally get to take this show on the road for these wonderful shows. Those of you who are on the short list of cities for the upcoming RyG/AST tour congrats!

I often get messages saying ""Why don't you play in _________ !" "Please come to ______!"

If you really want to get AST to your region, there is something you can do: take these messages to someone that can do something about it- your local concert promoters.

If they hear enough of your voice, know you want us there and you work with them by helping spread word about the show, through flyers, word of mouth and any other means, then it is entirely possible that the promoters will make an offer that allows us to travel to your area.

If it were up to me, we'd travel everywhere anyone wants to see us! If only life were so easy. At least I'm having fun. And this tour will be a blast! Can't wait....

Both AST and Testament coming to Atlanta in the same month? I should be jumping for joy, but I gotta tell ya, I have a lot of stuff on my plate for March. It won't be easy bidding a schedule that has all the days that I want off, but I'll try my best.

I personally, am aware of a local jazz festival in Rio de Janeiro and another venue in SP (Bourbon), but I know that the US-Brazil distance is long (length of flight) and would only be valid if there were a mini tour-Rio-Sao Paulo. I find the email of those homes and sending a message suggesting AST, if they bring Mike Stern 2 in 2 years is quite possible that one day bring you also. :)

Alex,
Thanks for the update.

Have fun touring with your trio. I can almost picture the smiles on Matt and Nathan’s faces in anticipation of finally taking the trio back on the road for a tour. May you and the “boys” find your way to Europe as well.

Sorry to learn you will not be touring with TSO this spring. I’ll still go to the show. However, as said before, it won’t be the same without you. You bring an element of magic to TSO.

Glad to learn Tom Araya is doing better after his surgery and the Carnage Tour has been rescheduled. Looking forward to going to the show.

It appears to be another busy year for you with projects and tours. I hope a special project presents itself to you. One that brings you the acclamation you’ve desired for long time.

Perhaps it’s an award that the kid learning to play guitar quietly hoped to receive some day. Acknowledge that dream. Sometimes, we become so grounded and focused (or worried about ego), we forget to let the desires of our inner child take flight. It’s when our aspirations transition from dreams to reality that we need to consider ego and grounding. Until then, give in a little and allow that kid to have his dream once more.

Reality is the manifestation of dreams. This could be the year for that kid’s dream to become reality.

Keep enjoying all you do…
